Travel Peeps App

Project overview

Travel Peeps is a social travel app I designed and built for women, people of colour, and LGBTQ+ travellers to feel safe, seen, and supported wherever they go. I led the product end to end — from concept and UX through to React Native development — creating an experience that connects users with like-minded people nearby, encourages sharing real travel questions and answers, and helps organise meetups or group adventures. I built in optional profile verification and privacy controls so that trust, safety, and inclusivity sit at the core of the app — because travel should feel good, not filtered.

• Ask & Answer Travel Questions: Get real, community-sourced advice — from "Is this destination queer-friendly?" to "Where's the best jerk chicken in town?"
• Interest-Based Profiles: Set your travel style (e.g. solo, foodie, chill vibes, party mode) to match with people who get your vibe.
• Smart Notifications: Get alerts when someone nearby answers your question, matches your interests, or wants to connect.

How it works

Users start by creating a profile that reflects who they are and how they travel — from their interests and travel style to optional identity markers like gender, sexuality, and ethnicity. They can then explore nearby travellers or locals, ask questions, or browse community answers about safety, culture, or hidden gems. Whether planning a trip or already on the move, users can connect with like-minded people, organise meetups, and receive personalised suggestions based on their location and preferences. With features like profile verification, visibility controls, and smart notifications, Travel Peeps empowers users to travel confidently, authentically, and never alone.

Impact

The result is a polished, community-first travel app that puts safety, identity, and real connection at the centre of the experience — combining inclusive product thinking with cross-platform React Native development.
